| Target Audience |
Any individual who wish to learn the basic lifesaving
skills, the basic principles and practices of First Aid, especially workers
and owners of any manufacturing industry. |

Command a first aid team
Assess accident situations
Secure the scene
Deal with potential hazards and accidents
Provide lifesaving support
Rescue accident victims safely
Provide emotional support to the victims
Take immediate action to transfer the patient properly.

| Course Content |
This training covers the following contents in
eight sessions:
Principles of First Aid, Patient Approach and Assessment
Scene management, Hazard control and stabilization techniques
Breathing system, Choking, Artificial respiration, CPR
Blood circulation, Bleeding
Burn, Blister, Electrification
Broken Bones, Dislocation, Sprain, Patient immobilization and transport
techniques
Wound & Dressing, Bandage
Nervous system, shock, Poisoning
Minor first aid, uses of First aid materials

All the First Aid trainers have successfully completed First aid TOT courses
from Red Cross/ Red Crescent/St. John Ambulance.
Master Trainers have more than twelve years experience of first aid training.

This session highlights: • sequence of priorities
for applying first aid • how to deal with emergencies •
how to look after a victim • steps involved in assessing and treating
a casualty.

Primary and secondary assessment of victims and action at
an emergency. |
| Session -2 |
This session focuses on: • nervous system,
• level of consciousness, • nervous break down and
• shock.
|
How to place a casualty in recovery position. |
LUNCH BREAK |
| Session-3 |
This session focuses on: • why the breathing is
essential for life, • how breathing works and controlled
• major cause of respiratory problems • artificial respiration
and • CPR.

Artificial respiration; how to check for response, how to
open the airway, how to check breathing and how to give rescue breaths. |
| Day Two |
Session-4 |
Discussion on: • different types of burns and causes
(severe & minor burns and scalds; sunburn, acid burn, Electrification
and electrical burn and • heatstroke, • hypothermia,
• first aid treatment procedure.

How to treat a burn wound. |
| Session-5 |
This session discusses on: • different types of
bleeding and wound (severe bleeding, cuts and grazes, bruising) and
• method to stop severe bleeding.

Pressure bandage & bleeding from ear, nose and mouth.
|
| Session-6 |
Discusses on: • Choking • Drowning and
• Poisoning.
|
Rescue breath and abdominal thrust. |
LUNCH BREAK |
| Session-7 |
This session highlights on: • basic anatomy about
the skeleton, the spine, the skull, the bones, the muscles and the joints.

Immobilize the injured part, lower & upper arm sling,
chest, leg skull bandage, different caring techniques and method. |
| Session-8 |
This session focuses on: • sting and bites
• first aid materials & its use and • how to make a
first aid kit at home.

| Final Evaluation |
20 & 30 basic multiple choice questions carrying 20 &
30 marks. |
Practical test carrying 50 marks. |
| Participants obtaining 70% or more get SAFE Certificate
of Merit in basic First aid. |
